The Australia immigration authorities have made a change that will be of interest to anyone seeking a skilled migration visa for Australia. The Critical Skills List (CSL) was updated last week by the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC), making a successful Australian visa application more likely for several groups of skilled workers, including computing and IT professionals, healthcare professionals, engineers, and surveyors.
In February the Australia immigration authority had announced changes to the Australian visa application procedures which made the Migration on Demand List (MODL) obsolete. This left many groups of workers whose skills were on this list unsure of the likely success of a visa application.
The Critical Skills List did not previously include occupations like Computing and IT and, in order to qualify for this list, these workers previously had to have a skill that was on the MODL. After the withdrawal of the MODL they did not qualify, so the latest changes reopen the route for these workers to make a successful Australia immigration application.
The addition of these skills to the CSL is a good indicator of the in-demand skills that are likely to be listed on the new Occupations in Demand list that will replace the Critical Skills List in April and makes the Australian visa application process clearer for these workers. Liam Clifford of world leading immigration company Global Visas commented on the change, saying, “This is good news for anyone in the appropriate skill groups who is thinking of applying for a skilled migration visa to Australia: it removes uncertainty, particularly for computing and IT professionals.”

AVG Technologies, developers of the worlds most popular free anti-virus software, today announced that LimeWire LLC has licensed the AVG Anti-Virus SDK engine and has integrated the anti-virus/ anti-spyware protection into LimeWire Pro, its premium file sharing software . Through this partnership, all files will be scanned before LimeWire Pro will allow them to play or execute on an end users computer, which prevents infected files from harming machines. LimeWire Pro users will see the “Protected by AVG” assurance whenever a downloaded file is safely scanned and cleaned.
The agreement is part of the AVGs new Global Strategic Alliances (GSA) group 2010 partner program focused on development, licensing initiatives and strategic partnerships in security, social media and the online community.
Millions of people use peer-to-peer networks every day to exchange audio, video, documents and other files. LimeWire is the leading provider of peer-to-peer networking applications and distributes the most popular peer-to-peer application in the world with 50M monthly users. LimeWire has integrated AVGs security SDK into LimeWire Pro, its premium file-sharing software, to automatically scan each download to help keep LimeWires users secure.
“Peer-to-peer networks have come a long way. People are using peer-to-peer networks to share files and documents, and we are pleased to be protecting them,” said Rocco Donnino, SVP of Global Strategic Alliances, AVG Technologies. “AVG is committed to securing our online world, whatever it takes.”
The ad hoc architecture of peer-to-peer networks affords no central point where security policies can be enforced, making the networks vulnerable to infected files, adware, spyware and other malware creeping into the system. It is incumbent upon users to secure their computers in order to protect both their own computers and the general health of their peer-to-peer network.

Auxilium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: AUXL),
a specialty biopharmaceutical company, today announced the managed
distribution network partners that have been contracted to support
XIAFLEX (collagenase clostridium histolyticum), a novel, first-in-class
biologic for the treatment of adult Dupuytrens contracture in patients
with a palpable cord.
The Company has established a distribution network that will allow health
care providers to access XIAFLEX in an office setting through specialty
distributors and specialty pharmacies or, in the institutional setting,
through selected wholesalers via drop shipments. Network partners were
selected after a rigorous evaluation process and resulted in a high quality
distribution solution, with national reach and coverage, complete specialty
distribution capabilities and competitive choice for health care providers.
In addition to providing customer service and specialty distribution
capabilities, each network partner has committed to supporting and
integrating the XIAFLEX Xperience physician and health care site
enrollment program. Physicians can receive XIAFLEX after they have
undergone training on XIAFLEX, and enrolled themselves and their site of
care in the distribution network. XIAFLEX is not available through
wholesale or retail channels, but only through the managed distribution
network.
Most politicians, and probably most Americans, see health care as a right. Thus, whether a person has the means to pay for medical services or not, he is nonetheless entitled to them. Lets ask ourselves a few questions about this vision. You say, “Williams, that would come very close to slavery if one person had the right to force someone to serve him without pay.” Youre right. Suppose instead of Harry being able to force a lab, doctor and pharmacy to provide services without pay, Congress uses its taxing power to take a couple hundred dollars out of the paycheck of some American to give to Harry so that he could pay the lab, doctor and pharmacist. Would there be any difference in principle, namely forcibly using one person to serve the purposes of another? There would be one important strategic difference, that of concealment. Most Americans, I would hope, would be offended by the notion of directly and visibly forcing one person to serve the purposes of another. Congress use of the tax system to invisibly accomplish the same end is more palatable to the average American. True rights, such as those in our Constitution, or those considered to be natural or human rights, exist simultaneously among people. That means exercise of a right by one person does not diminish those held by another. In other words, my rights to speech or travel impose no obligations on another except those of noninterference. If we apply ideas behind rights to health care to my rights to speech or travel, my free speech rights would require government-imposed obligations on others to provide me with an auditorium, television studio or radio station. My right to travel freely would require government-imposed obligations on others to provide me with airfare and hotel accommodations. For Congress to guarantee a right to health care, or any other good or service, whether a person can afford it or not, it must diminish someone elses rights, namely their rights to their earnings. The reason is that Congress has no resources of its very own. Moreover, there is no Santa Claus, Easter Bunny or Tooth Fairy giving them those resources. The fact that government has no resources of its very own forces one to recognize that in order for government to give one American citizen a dollar, it must first, through intimidation, threats and coercion, confiscate that dollar from some other American. If one person has a right to something he did not earn, of necessity it requires that another person not have a right to something that he did earn.
[ILLUSTRATION OMITTED] THE ONGOING RECESSION has raised a troubling question for otherwise resurgent Keynesian economists: How can the American economy keep getting worse under the intensive care of an interventionist economic team almost universally praised for its brilliance? The answer may be that the Obama administration is dealing with a fictional economy, one that bears little resemblance to the economy the rest of us inhabit. And when the difference between fact and fiction becomes too apparent, they just make stuff up. Herewith, five big lies the administration loves to tell and the mainstream media (with some notable exceptions) love to repeat: 1. Bold government action staved off a Depression, saving or creating 1.5 million jobs. “Just remember,” Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner said on November 1, 2009, “a year ago today, last year, you had markets around the world come to a stop. Economic activity just stopped, came to a standstill, like flipping a switch.” Geithner implies that the American business climate improved substantially in the first year of the Obama administration. In fact, nearly every indicator, from employment to freight transport to rents to retail sales to real estate, has headed steadily south. In some cases, such as unemployment, the numbers have been far worse than the Obama economic teams worst-case projections. In others, such as real estate, the weakness of the market is masked by expensive government support, including but not limited to the unkillable First-Time Homebuyer Credit, an assault on loan underwriting standards (see Lie No. 2) by the Federal Housing Authority and the government-run mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and the completely opaque $75 billion Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP).

TAIPEI, Taiwan — The 2010 Winter Olympics recently held in Vancouver, Canada, reminded us
how “hot” winter sports are. Despite the fact that not everybody can
name more than five events in the international competition, most agree
that the speed and grace of winter sports is thrilling and beautiful to
watch.
For a long time, winter sports such as skiing and ice skating were
considered the domain of the rich and inhabitants of ‘the Frigid Zone.’
However, as many winter resorts become more affordable, even people from
snow-free countries such as Taiwan are starting to take skiing vacations
in Asian countries including Japan and South Korea, as well as in more
traditional European locations.
During the Taipei International Sporting Goods Show (TaiSPO) — to be
held between April 29 and May 2 at the NANGANG Exhibition Hall of the
Taiwan World Trade Center — Taiwan’s sports equipment manufacturers
will display their latest skiing and skating products to visitors.
Contrary to all expectations, Taiwanese companies have been producing
high quality winter sports equipment for years. Aswan International
Corp. (Booth # J0711a) which has 30 years of manufacturing experience
under its belt, produces skiing eye protection gear such as safety
glasses and goggles, ear muffs, and face shields. Aswan will showcase
its latest products in the TaiSPO’s Skiing Skating section.
Charlton Co. Ltd, (Booth # J0612) a manufacturer of snowboards,
surfboards and bindings for snowboards, wakeboards and kiteboards, will
also exhibit in the Skiing Skating section. The company produces
almost 100 different products and its booth will be a must for visitors
interested in high-quality gear.
OREM — An Orem man was arrested Friday after a police dog sniffed out his snack. An officer pulled over the 32-year-old man when he failed to stop at an intersection where the lights were out due to a blown transformer, police said. Orem Police Cpl. Trent Colledge responded with police dog Rudy, who zeroed in on a bag of Funyuns in the car. Inside were a few balloons of heroin and a bindle of methamphetamine, police said. Drug dealers try an array of substances to try to hide the scent of the narcotics — axle grease has been a popular choice recently, especially with large amounts of heroin and methamphetamine — but their strategy doesnt succeed. “It never does,” Colledge said.
A leading broker specialising in lorry insurance has condemned a recent rise in thefts of lorry batteries around the UK. The thieves target vehicles which are parked up in lorry compounds for the night, cutting through the steel fences of the compounds and breaking in to cut through the battery mounts and take batteries from large numbers of lorries. A tonne will fetch on average Pounds Sterling 350. The thefts have taken place in a number of depots around the country and police have warned lorry drivers and haulage firms to be vigilant.
A representative of HGV insurance specialists Staveley Head commented: “This is very bad news for road hauliers and owner lorry drivers. In these hard times haulage firms are already under pressure and these thefts can only add to that.”
“We hope the police are successful in catching those responsible. As always we are working closely with drivers and haulage firms across the UK to try to minimise the problems caused.”
Staveley Head are based in Flintshire, North Wales. They have been in business for over 15 years and have built up a reputation for offering affordable, reliable insurance to lorry drivers and road haulage companies.

Electricians and care-workers are as intelligent as professors and merchant bankers, claims a new report.
According to the Bodies of Knowledge report from the Centre for Real-World Learning (CRL) at the University of Winchester , treating practical and vocational educated individuals as intellectually second rate has no basis in science. Practising a vocation is as demanding of intelligence, ingenuity, flexibility and social skills as any profession.
Commissioned by independent education foundation Edge , the report proves that it is wrong to distinguish between “academic” and “practical” learning in the simplistic way that the educational system currently does.
Drawing on cognitive science and neuroscience, Bodies of Knowledge determines what it takes to become an expert in any line of work and demonstrates that the mind and body work together to develop knowledge, understanding and skill. An example cited in the report is that a mechanic working out how to fix an engine uses similar thought processes to a doctor making a medical diagnosis.
The authors have developed a new framework of learning and conclude that anyone who wants to become expert in their field will need to use the same habits and frames of mind.
While much of the United States is still
awaiting the thaw from a particularly bad winter, the days of spring are
just ahead and for many that means its time to get back into the garden
and prepare the soil for their fruits and vegetables.
This can be a confusing process for gardeners who want to take a natural
approach to growing their food as the market is now flooded with products
claiming to produce superior fruits and vegetables. The organic gardening market is big
business and many of the products available arent always the most
effective tools to producing a healthy garden.
As many gardeners know, the most important aspect of a garden is the soil
that will be growing the planted seeds and if this soil isnt cared for
properly the fruits and vegetables that are harvested wont yield the
nutritionally dense food they desire. When looking for a natural fertilizer to treat your
soil you should always make sure the product contains the right ingredients
that will interact with the ground to meet your desires.
It was with this understanding that the natural fertilizer ProtoGrow was
developed. Blended with a unique mix of micronutrients from a special kelp
extract and the macronutrients from North Atlantic fish, ProtoGrow is a ” superfood ” that can stimulate the
soil and produce the healthiest and tastiest fruits and vegetables that you
can put on your table.
A tremendous benefit of ProtoGrow is how easy it is to use. Despite
containing no harmful chemicals the “superfood” need only be applied with
little else left to do. Several other natural fertilizers require an almost
vigilant approach to gardening, making sure the produce is free from
disease and attack yet ProtoGrow requires no such caution.

Cinema possesses a rich history of collaboration between artists of sound, narrative, and image. However, traditional tendencies to perceive music as a strictly supportive background or accompaniment have been subjected to in-depth critique only recently. Abigail Childs interactions with musicians in Is This What You Were Born For? (1981-89) and Bill Morrisons partnership with composer Michael Gordon in Decasia (2001) exemplify (but by no means exhaust the possibilities of) the broader range of collaborative textures that cinema has always suggested. Not coincidentally, these works represent the influence on cinema of two popular music practices: the ubiquitous re-mixing that has emerged from hip-hop culture and the group composition typical of many rock bands. Abigail Child (also a poet, critic, and scholar) has had an influential career as an experimental filmmaker since the mid-1970s when she turned from professional documentary work to the creation of independent films focusing on gender, sexuality, class, and the critical possibilities of montage. Recycling found footage from a wide variety of sources, such as porn, industrial films, and home movies, and progressing cinematic techniques often associated primarily with the historical avant-garde of the early twentieth century, Child has created an oeuvre of incredible beauty and continuing social relevance. Her films are shown at major art museums and in experimental cinema venues and can be obtained through a variety of distribution channels. Is This What You Were Born For?, the series of short films Child created in the 1980s, underscores her exploration of interdisciplinary collaboration and these endeavors have had on her work. Michael Gordons award-winning career as a composer has resulted in a variety of notable intermedia collaborations, including for example operas with diegetic film components progressing beyond the more familiar application of projection as scenery and non-narrative music performances incorporating video. Gordon is a founding member of the highly regarded new music organization Bang on a Can, a group dedicated to facilitating the composition and performance of new music, often with an interdisciplinary dimension and independently of conservative academic contexts. Decasia, Gordons internationally celebrated collaboration with filmmaker Bill Morrison, is a symphony for full orchestra paired with a montage of archival nitrate footage in various states of intriguing and evocative decomposition. The final version of the film, edited to fit the live recording of the symphony performance, was featured in the 2002 Sundance Film Festival. Decasia synaesthetically elucidates subtleties inherent to myriad generative tensions: progress/tradition, memory/time, darkness/illumination, and mini-malism/totalism.

SIR Ian Blair, former Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, has called for fewer forces and a Royal Commission to assess the dated structure and role of policing across the UK. Sir Ian, arguably one of the most high profile and controversial officers of recent times, told The Sunday Herald that the role of officers needs to be redefined. He suggested that more roles could be given to civilians and that a federal structure, such as that of the FBI, should be considered. Speaking in advance of his talk at the Aye Write! literary festival in Glasgow this afternoon, Sir Ian said: “It is over 50 years since we have seriously looked at the structure and activity of policing. When the Royal Commission of 1962 took place, we were in a very different world. At that time the police did not even have radios. “As time has gone on, we have ended up with a lot of piecemeal reform. It might be better to have less forces but we cannot look at whether we need one police force, for example in Scotland, until we have addressed accountability.

Three years on from the introduction of tougher in-car mobile phone rules, many motorists are still flouting the law, according to figures published today.
Swinton, the UKs leading high street retailer of car insurance , has seen a 42% increase from 2008 to 2009 in the number of quotes for people convicted of using a mobile phone while driving (CU80 conviction code).
Following official RoSPA statistics showing that 78% of crashes were caused by driver inattention Swinton is warning motorists to beware of the potentially dangerous effects of using a mobile while driving.
Steve Chelton, Insurer development manager at Swinton, said: “We are seeing more and more motorists using mobiles phones while driving, not only to make or receive calls, but also to text, surf the internet and even check messages on Facebook and Twitter. We would like to advise all of our car insurance customers that this is illegal, even when in stationary traffic or stopped at traffic lights.
“We urge all motorists to adhere to the rules by not using a hand-held mobile phone while driving. There are plenty of alternative options, including hands-free kits and Bluetooth headphones.

Lerner Medical Devices , Inc. (LMD) today introduced Levia , an innovative medical device providing Personal Targeted Phototherapy with Ultraviolet B (UVB) light — a safe and effective non-drug option for the self-treatment of psoriasis in the privacy and convenience of a patients home. LMD introduced Levia at the 68th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), Booth Number 2807, Miami Beach Convention Center, Miami, Florida.
Levia, cleared by the FDA for physician-directed use and incorporating software for physician control of dosimetry, is specifically designed for in-home use. Levias technology includes proprietary beam-delivery attachments — LiteSpot and LiteBrush — which ensure precise delivery of UVB light to the specific areas of skin and scalp which require treatment. As such, patients can treat themselves rapidly and safely with UVB, a proven non-systemic therapy effective for more than 85% of psoriasis sufferers.
“We have a very clear objective for Levia. We want to establish proven, but seriously under-utilized, UVB phototherapy as a practical, first line treatment alternative for millions of psoriasis patients,” said John R. Lyon, Chief Executive Officer, LMD. “We know that UVB is well tolerated and effective, with an excellent side-effect profile for long term use. Self-treatment at home, with a purpose-designed, targeted device, makes compliance realistic at a cost much less than any other modality,” said Lyon.
Psoriasis Statistics Are Surprising
Psoriasis is a chronic disease which afflicts 7.5 million Americans, as reported by The National Institutes of Health (NIH), at an annual cost of $11.25 billion. There are more psoriasis patients than those with Alzheimers, Parkinsons and other more publicized medical conditions. Psoriasis sufferers also have higher incidence levels of Crohns, multiple sclerosis, metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease than the general population. The condition also has a significant psychosocial component, such that the patient frequently perceives the effect to be more severe than the physicians clinical assessment.
NEW YORK — NYU
Langone Medical Center announced today that the NYU Hospitals Center
received The Gold Seal of Approval by The Joint Commission, a national
nonprofit organization responsible for certifying that some 17,000 U.S.
healthcare institutions are following the very best practices in terms
of patient care and safety. Accreditation by The Joint Commission, which
must be re-earned every three years, signals to patients and staff alike
that NYU Langone is meeting the commission’s exacting standards in such
key areas as patient rights, quality of treatment, medication safety,
and infection control.
“The Joint Commission’s survey is about seeking excellence in all we do
and serves as a framework for ensuring ongoing compliance with patient
care standards and continuous quality improvement,” said Robert I.
Grossman, MD, dean and CEO of NYU Langone Medical Center. “This
recognition is especially rewarding, as it speaks to the dedication and
medical expertise of our physicians, nurses, and staff and their
unwavering commitment to the highest standards of patient care. We
congratulate them all for their tremendous contributions and for
receiving this outstanding recognition.”
In November 2009, The Joint Commission conducted an unannounced, on-site
evaluation of NYU Langone Medical Center, including Tisch Hospital, Rusk
Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine (Rusk) and Hospital for Joint
Diseases (HJD). For five days, a group of six surveyors, including an
environmental surveyor, conducted a thorough and detailed study of the
Medical Center’s patient care practices and processes. Through each step
of care—from admission through discharge—personnel were evaluated
according to hundreds of criteria. The environmental surveyor spent two
days inspecting the Medical Center’s physical plant for potential safety
concerns.
According to Dr. Grossman, the award reflects NYU Langone’s deep
commitment to high-quality medical care and the resources devoted to
ensuring that care—even when an inspection isn’t around the corner.
“Above all, the national standards are intended to stimulate continuous,
systematic and organization-wide improvement in an organization’s
performance and the outcomes of care,” says Mark Pelletier, RN, MS,
executive director, Hospital Programs, Accreditation and Certification
Services, The Joint Commission. “The community should be proud that NYU
Langone Medical Center is focusing on the most challenging goal—to
continuously raise quality and safety to higher levels.”

“It is a true healthy indulgence,” said Malcolm Nicholl, President and CEO of ResVez. “If you love chocolate and wine and you want a nutrition bar that really tastes great, this is for you.” Resveratrol has soared in popularity after positive coverage on major TV shows such as “60 Minutes,” “Oprah,” and a Barbara Walters Special. A substantial amount of research validating a remarkable range of health benefits has been published. Though most of the trials have been conducted with animals, the results of human clinical studies will soon begin to appear in peer-reviewed medical journals. A large number of dietary supplements containing resveratrol have been successfully marketed — mostly in pills and drinks. The WINETIME bar is a breakthrough concept, putting this life-enhancing ingredient into a 190-calorie gourmet nutrition bar.

FT. LEE, N.J., Feb. 26 /PRNewswire/ — With the realization that half of the people experiencing a sudden mortal heart attack were taking aspirin on the day of their demise, and the fact that higher-than-recommended doses of aspirin are needed to prevent blood clot formation in coronary arteries, coupled with an announcement that the red wine molecule resveratrol (rez-vair-ah-trawl) may protect from sudden mortal heart attack in a superior fashion to aspirin, suggests re-evaluation of cardiologys current instruction regarding prevention of heart attacks, says Nate Lebowitz MD, cardiologist with the Advanced Cardiology Institute in Ft. Lee, New Jersey. In a presentation at a National Institutes of Health symposium in Washington DC today, University of Connecticut researchers showed resveratrol limits damage caused by a heart attack, prevents sudden cardiac death in animals, and is “the best yet devised method of cardioprotection.” This phenomenon is called “cardiac pre-conditioning” because it works to activate antioxidant defenses in the heart prior to a heart attack via the release of a chemical called adenosine. “Being one of the few cardiology groups in the nation to have experience with both of these preventive agents, we are in a unique position to provide consultation to patients seeking answers to questions about the best ways to prevent fatal events,” says Jacqueline Hollywood MD, another cardiologist with the Advanced Cardiology Institute.

Leading fleet insurance specialists Staveley Head have welcomed the news that the Government is planning to introduce a new NVQ-style driving qualification aimed at fleet operators. It is believed that this could lead to more rigid training and qualification and could also generate better road sense and awareness, in turn reducing accidents. In time, it is hoped that this training will also help to reduce fleet insurance and maintenance costs.
The move has received widespread support within the industry. Responding to a survey by RoadSafe, a total of 86% of fleet bosses gave their backing to the idea. Whilst the Department for Transport suggests that vocational driving qualifications should only be taken by van drivers, around two thirds of those questioned stated that they would like to see the qualifications become a requirement for all drivers.
Other findings of the survey revealed that over three quarters of fleet bosses currently include driver training as part of their occupational risk strategy. However, only 43% of those questioned believe that other measures such as fitting vehicles with speed limiters was a good idea.
Staveley Head have over 15 years experience as insurance brokers to some of the UKs largest commercial fleets. Providing cover from a panel of leading insurers, including Zurich, Allianz and Aviva means that the firm can offer the most appropriate cover for clients, at the most affordable prices. A spokesperson for the firm commented on the new driving qualification proposals by saying:
“These proposed measures are a step in the right direction in improving the quality of the nations driving practices. This will not only help to make our roads safer, it will also contribute to reduced fuel, maintenance and insurance costs, which are a welcome boost at a time when so many businesses in the industry are struggling.”

continuing operations of $6.2 million, or $(0.38) per diluted share.
Unless otherwise stated, all further results discussed in this release
refer to continuing operations for 2009 and results on a comparable
basis for 2008.
Total revenues in the fourth quarter of 2009 were $27.2 million,
compared to $30.3 million in the same quarter of the prior year.
Underwriting actions taken on business written by Majestic Insurance
Company (“Majestic”), the Company’s primary insurance provider, in the
states of New York and New Jersey, reduced net earned premiums by $3.0
million. Decreases in the Company’s net earned premiums and fee-based
management services were offset by increases in investment income.
Investment income during the quarter increased to $6.7 million from $4.6
million in the fourth quarter of 2008, as the Company realized gains on
its portfolio of fixed income securities. Excluding the benefits of
realized capital gains in both periods, interest income earned was $2.3
million in the fourth quarter of 2009, compared to $3.0 million in the
same quarter a year ago, a reflection of lower prevailing interest rates
in 2009.
Total underwriting expenses for the fourth quarter increased to $33.2
million from $28.2 million a year ago. This increase primarily resulted
from higher current year loss and loss adjustment expenses at Majestic
on policies underwritten in California, where paid and incurred losses
recorded in the first three quarters of 2009 developed worse than
expected. For the fourth quarter of 2009, the Company’s overall loss
ratio was 151.7%, compared to 101.6% for the fourth quarter of 2008.

LINDON — A 29-year-old Provo man was in critical condition after his motorcycle struck a sport utility vehicle early Tuesday. Police said the accident happened at 12:10 a.m. when the driver of the SUV, a 19-year-old Pleasant Grove woman, glanced down at her watch before making a left turn from State Street onto 700 North. She failed to see the motorcycle approaching from the north at about 40 miles per hour. “He laid the bike down but still struck the car,” Lindon Police Chief Cody Cullimore said, adding that the man was not wearing a helmet. Police have not yet issued any citations. Cullimore said there is no indication drugs or alcohol were involved.
Sparta Commercial Services (OTCBB: SRCO) announced today that, as a result of the growing interest among local and state governmental agencies, the Company is intensifying its marketing efforts in support of its Municipal Lease Product. With the recent addition of more cities and towns to Spartas roster of municipalities under contract for the leasing of vehicles and other equipment, and the rapidly growing number of inquiries from other agencies around the country, the Company believes that refocusing additional resources to its marketing activity is essential.
Sparta has also established relationships with one of the four manufacturers of police motorcycles, which has recently given Sparta a presence at its corporate website as a recommended source for Municipal Lease Purchase Financing. Sparta considers this a major advancement for its Municipal Lease Financing Program, and is actively engaged with two additional OEMs in an effort to form similar strategic alliances.
In addition to the new business being generated in its Municipal Lease Purchase Financing Program, Sparta is also anticipating a number of lease purchase contract renewals coming up for Newark, NJ; Darke County, OH; Montville, NJ; Pascagoula, MS; and Miami County, OH.
According to the Company, their Municipal Lease Program is an ideal alternative to the traditional outright purchase of the police cars, police motorcycles and other essential equipment that these agencies require, especially during these difficult economic times. More than 17,000 state and local law enforcement agencies operating in the United States will purchase 65,000 police cars each year, creating over 1.6 billion dollars in annual sales. These agencies will also purchase over 60,000 police motorcycles during the next five years, creating an additional 1 billion dollars in sales over that time period. Spartas current goal is to capture a minimum of one percent of the estimated market for these vehicles, representing about 18 million dollars worth of annual municipal lease fundings. These figures do not take into account other essential equipment that Sparta includes in its Municipal Lease Purchase Financing Program, such as the on-board digital video and data equipment used on these vehicles. Sparta is currently working with major national suppliers of these assets to provide financing for these ancillary products as well.
Sparta Commercial Services expanded offerings permit it to capitalize on a growing market trend. Local and State agencies, with difficult economic challenges, do not have the necessary money in their budgets to keep up to date with all their equipment needs. Spartas Municipal Lease Product is the most attractive option for these agencies since it makes it possible for them to spread the cost of the equipment over time and still allows them to own the equipment outright at the end of the term of the lease.
SOUTH SALT LAKE — Police have released the name of a man killed in a three-car accident Monday. Authorities believe the driver of the truck drove through a stop sign, Keller said. The case was still under investigation Tuesday, and no charges have been filed.

The American Consumer Institute (ACI) announced today that it is placing a strong focus on statewide issues in Florida for 2010. The organizations announcement comes after substantial review of a variety of state issues that affect the majority of Floridas consumers, including property insurance and telecommunications.
“Florida is dealing with a number of important issues and public policies, some of which are currently having adverse consequences on consumers in the state,” said Steve Pociask, president of the American Consumer Institute. “ACI will serve as an educational resource and a voice that represents the best solutions for all Florida consumers.”
As part of the announcement, ACI named Florida State University Associate Professor Patricia Born as Research Fellow. Dr. Born is a professor in FSUs Department of Risk Management/Insurance, Real Estate and Business Law and is the Director of the FSU Center for Insurance Research. She is also a Research Associate in the Florida Catastrophic Storm Risk Management Center and an Associated Member of the Munich Risk and Insurance Center.
“Im thrilled that a well-respected, national organization such as the American Consumer Institute is willing to focus on issues in our state which have a major effect on all Floridians,” said Born. “I look forward to working closely with them to identify solutions within our perilous insurance market.”
SALT LAKE CITY — One day, when Owen Magness was 9 months old, he fell so ill he could barely breathe in enough air to fill his tiny lungs. Normally a vibrant child, he appeared lethargic. Worried, his mother, Andrea, took him to the hospital, where he spent three days for treatment of a respiratory infection known as RSV. Last week, when the 2-year-old had a high fever and a bad cough, his mom took him back to the hospital. Each winter, local hospitals and clinics see a rise in the number of kids coming to emergency rooms with highly contagious symptoms of RSV. This year is no different. In fact, at Primary Childrens Medical Center, there are so many kids with RSV, nurses are having to readjust their schedules to meet the needs of incoming patients. “Were right in the middle of the usual peak we see every winter,” said Dr. Hilary Hewes, a fellow in the pediatric emergency room at Primary Childrens Medical Center. “But there has been a high prevalence around the valley.”
NI Research has released the February issue of NeuroInvestment. The issue features a review of ALS, and the search for a genuinely useful treatment for the treatment of this devastating illness. Just as Alzheimers lyses memory, and schizophrenia dissolves the personality, ALS gradually destroys muscle control, leaving patients almost invariably doomed to death from respiratory failure.
The contents of the February NeuroInvestment include:
NI Research is the leading publisher of independent research on the neurotherapeutics industry. NI Research has published NeuroInvestment since 1995; the Private CNS Company Review since 2003; and CNS Disorders/Therapeutics since 2007. NI Research also provides licensing consultation and research for large and small pharmaceutical firms. NI Research has developed an unmatched information base regarding both publicly and privately-held neuro-oriented companies.
CTEK, a leading global brand in the care and maintenance of vehicle batteries, has today highlighted the importance of proper Battery Maintenance and care as one in four classic cars will develop battery problems during the winter.
As Spring arrives and motorists look forward to driving their classic cars which have been locked up through the winter months, many of them will face disappointment as battery problems mean the car cannot be started.
To avoid this, CTEK has offered some tips to drivers to protect their batteries through the winter months;
- The top of the battery, the terminal posts and connections should be carefully cleaned with water and baking soda to remove any dirt or moisture. Dirty or moist surfaces increase the level of self discharge.
- Contact terminals should be clean, dry and lightly greased to protect against corrosion.
VANCOUVER, British Columbia — AFRICAN QUEEN MINES LTD. (the “Company”) is pleased to announce
receipt from Scientific Services Laboratories of Cape Town, S.A. of
geochemical results from its extensive soil sampling survey over its
King Solomon Project in Mozambique. After careful integration with
geological mapping to date, as well as results of ground geophysics
surveys and sampling programs previously completed, the current data
indicate a number of linear Cu-Au-Zn enriched zones are present, with
the potential to host skarnoid-type Cu-Au mineralization over the
Mankombiti target as well as mesothermal shear-hosted Au-Cu-Zn
mineralization over the Eiland and Kazito targets. The regional soil
sampling results corroborate the strong rock and chip sample results
from the three main target zones previously announced in the Company’s
Press Releases of September 17 and October 14, 2009, and January 11,
2010.
In excess of 7100 samples were collected and assayed as part of the soil
sampling survey over the key targets in the license area, generally from
relatively thin soils which reflect in situ material. Samples were
collected along 100 m spaced lines with two samples collected at every
50 m. These included samples submitted for mini-BLEG gold analysis as
well as samples submitted for AAS analyses for the elements Cu, Pb, Zn,
Co, Ni, Mn and Fe. Applicable quality control procedures were adhered to
in shipment as well as in the analytical process, with the necessary
duplicates, blanks and in-house standards being submitted.
The gridded soil Au results define a number of significant soil
anomalies over the Eiland, Kazito and to a lesser extent the Mankombiti
and Ntumba targets. Approximately 6.5% of all samples reported had
anomalous gold values in excess of 100 ppb Au. The gridded soil Cu
results define a number of soil anomalies over the Kazito, Mankombiti,
Ntumba and Messeca targets, with over 8% of all samples reporting Cu
values in excess of 200 ppm. The gridded soil Pb results, like the soil
Zn results, are typically elevated over the metacarbonates within the
Kazito, Mankombiti and Ntumba areas. Over 13% of the Zn values were in
excess of 200 ppm.
Preparations are now underway for a 3000 m reconnaissance core drilling
program set to commence immediately upon conclusion of the rainy season
when vehicular access is possible. Principal drill targets have already
been selected over the key target zones discussed herein and a drilling
contractor has been secured. A site visit by our team to conduct further
preparatory work is scheduled to take place later this month. Weather
permitting, it is hoped that drilling will commence in the first part of
April.
The King Solomon Project is located within the central parts of the
Mesoproterozoic Fingoe Belt in western Tete Province, Mozambique. These
rocks consist of metavolcanics, metasediments and intrusive granitic and
gabbroic rocks. The license is the subject of the Earn-in and Joint
Venture Agreement dated July 10, 2009 (the “Agreement”), with
Swiss-based Opti Metal Trading Limited (“Optimetal”), covering
exploration, development and exploitation of Prospecting License No.
884L held by Optimetal’s Mozambique subsidiary (the “License”). The
License covers an area of approximately 230 km2 in the center
of the Fingoe Belt, adjacent to permits which are the subject of
existing earn-in and joint venture Agreements between the Company and
Manica Minerals Ltd. and African Eagle Resources plc (AIM: AFE),
respectively, covering an aggregate of 1359 sq.km.
Been scheming to kick up the conjugal-visit quota with your significant other? Heres a simple solution: Do more housework. Montclair State University [New Jersey] researchers had access to data on almost 7,000 married couples from the National Survey of Families and Households, and found that married couples who share chores tend to have more sex.
Whats wrong with this picture? The NCAA and its member universities and conferences rake in hundreds of millions of dollars from TV contracts, licensing and merchandising deals and more. Coaches earn millions of dollars annually from coaching, TV and radio shows, clothing contracts and car allowances, not to mention the millions they reap from shoe companies for having their players wear the company logo and equipment. TV networks garner millions more in advertising revenue from televised games. Corporations collect millions by advertising via college football.
Its that time again. When the pants begin to creep up the leg, showing just a bit to much heel, and those shirts ride their way up the wrist, its time to switch out the clothes. I think of it as a changing of the guard. From one stalwart box of clothing to the next.
Cream Minerals Ltd. (TSX VENTURE: CMA)(OTCBB: CRMXF)(FRANKFURT: DFL) (”Cream” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce it has received preliminary assay results from Roca Mines Inc. (”Roca”) concerning selected sample intervals of two drillholes recently completed on the Nuevo Milenio Silver-Gold Project. The Project is located 27 kilometres by road from the city of Tepic, Nayarit State, Mexico. Additional results are pending for these drillholes and two other holes that have also been completed.
Highlights:
Nuevo Milenio is a low-sulphide epithermal camp that is hosted by a sequence of intermediate to felsic volcanic flows, tuffs and breccias within a large collapsed caldera setting. There are three principal northwest-trending vein systems on the property, Dos Hornos -Veta Tomas, Once Bocas and Chacuaco-Cafetal. Previous exploration drilling by Cream has tested the Dos Hornos-Veta Tomas system over a strike length of approximately 1,300 m and the Once Bocas system over astrike length of 350 m. Surface exploration has indicated that the drilled systems are open to the northwest and southeast and down dip. Numerous other areas of interest on the property are yet to be explored.
PROVO — Everybody has leftovers. But rather than mix them with cream of chicken soup and sprinkle Corn Flakes on top, creative designer Kasey Jarvis turned Nike scraps into NBA-level basketball shoes. The BYU industrial design graduate returned to campus Thursday night to share the story of Trash Talk, the sneaker companys first “recycled” shoe. The project began several years ago when Jarvis got a glimpse of the giant piles of scraps outside one of Nikes manufacturing plants in Vietnam. After that trip, he began to brainstorm a way to make shoes from the scraps.

SALT LAKE CITY — A long-awaited campaign contribution limit bill has finally been introduced, and it comes with a surprise. Rep. Ben Ferry, R-Corinne, included in HB329 a repeal of the current law that says if a candidate for state office fails to file a financial disclosure report, his name is stricken from the ballot. Ferry said that every time a candidate has failed to file, had his name removed, and then gone to court, the judge has ordered that he be put back on the ballot. “We figure that if (a candidate) never files a disclosure statement, the public will in effect take his name off the ballot” by defeating him at the polls, Ferry said.
WASHINGTON (MCT) — A South Carolina congressman said Friday that five Muslim soldiers at Fort Jackson, S.C., had been removed from active duty, and four of them discharged from the Army, in connection with an ongoing probe into alleged threats to poison food at the large South Carolina base. Republican Rep. Joe Wilson, who sits on the House Armed Services Committee, said the soldiers laptops had been seized and were being analyzed. Congressional officials with knowledge of the case said cell phones and Arabic writings had been confiscated as well. In his first public comments on the case, Wilson said FBI forensics experts were working with the Armys Criminal Investigation Division in the probe. “The initial investigation confirmed that (the five soldiers) had not made any effort to poison food and that allegations about their disloyalty were inaccurate,” Wilson told McClatchy Newspapers. “There was further investigation. I have not received any word of it being over. I think they would tell me.”

1st-Air.net reports that the sovereign debt
concerns have pushed both the Euro and Pound Sterling down against the U.S.
dollar, creating short term savings opportunities for select international
travel purchases. While the Forex market operates in a real time
environment, the airline industry uses static exchange rates that are
updated just once a week. As real time currency movements are continuous,
compared to the static airline exchange rates (known as the IATA rate of
exchange or IROE), buyers of international travel may be able to use the
spread between the actual rate and the IATA rate of exchange to their
advantage.
The IATA rate of exchange is used by most travel reservation systems,
including those that power on-line travel giants Expedia, Orbitz,
priceline.com and Travelocity, to convert transactions from the currency in
the country of origin to the currency in the country of sale. As of
February 5th, 2010 the USD/GBP exchange was 1.56782 to 1 and the USD/EURO
exchange was 1.3691/1. However, the IATA rate of exchange was 1.5959 for
GBP to USD and 1.3931 for EUR to USD. While real time exchange rates will
continue to move on February 8th-9th, the IATA rate of exchange will not be
updated until Wednesday, February 10th, 2010.
The nearly 3% differential between the true exchange rate and the IATA
exchange rate can be used by savvy travelers to lower their travel costs.
Travelers based in the Euro zone or U.K. would benefit by using U.S. based
booking sites (i.e. Travelocity, Expedia) to secure pending travel
requirements by Tuesday evening February 9th, 2010 to take advantage of the
more favorable GBP to USD of 1.5959 or the EUR to USD of 1.3931., Global
travel booking sites will continue to utilize the IATA rate of exchange,
which relies on the Forex exchange rate as of February 2nd, 2010. The spread
between Forex exchange rates and the IATA rate of exchange will give
Euro/U.K. buyers a 3% advantage through February 9th, 2010. On the contrary,
U.S. based travelers seeking international travel to the U.K/Eurozone
should try and delay their purchases until Wednesday February 10th, 2010
when the IATA rate of exchange is next updated and matched to the Forex
exchange rate. International travel purchased prior to Wednesday,
originated in the Euro zone but paid in USD, would be exchanged at the less
favorable IATA rate of 1.3931 rather than the Forex rate of 1.3691 as of
February 5th, 2010. U.S. based travelers should only attempt to use the
currency spread to their advantage when purchasing flexible/higher priced
ticket types where fares are less volatile

(the “Company”) (TSX VENTURE: RDR) is providing this news release in accordance with National Policy 12-203 – Cease Trade Orders for Continuous Disclosure Defaults (”NP 12-203″). In its initial default announcement of February 3, 2010 (the “Default Notice”), the Company announced that it did not file its audited financial statements for its fiscal year ended September 30, 2009 (the “Annual Financial Statements”) and its managements discussion and analysis relating thereto (collectively, the “Annual Required Filings”) before the prescribed deadline of January 28, 2010.
As previously announced, the Company made an application to the applicable securities regulators under NP 12-203 requesting that a management cease trade order be imposed in respect of this late filing. On February 24, 2010, the Ontario Securities Commission issued a management cease trade order, which imposes restrictions on all trading in and all acquisitions of the securities of the Company by the Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Financial Officer of the Company. The aforementioned management cease trade order replaces (in Ontario) a temporary general cease trade order issued by the Ontario Securities Commission on February 10, 2010.
The Company was unable to file the Annual Required Filings by the prescribed deadline because of a lack of working capital and the resultant delay in funding its auditors to perform the audit of the Annual Financial Statements. As a result of the delay in filing the Annual Required Filings, the Company will be unable to file, by the prescribed deadline, its interim financial statements for the three month period ended December 31, 2009 and its managements discussion and analysis relating thereto (collectively, the “Interim Required Filings”).
The Company is pleased to announce that CEO Capital Corporation, a related party that arranged for the Companys existing credit facility, is expected to provide bridge loan financing to the Company in the principal amount of approximately $300,000 (the “Bridge Loan”). It is expected that the principal amount under the Bridge Loan will bear interest at 18% per annum and be payable on demand. The closing of the Bridge Loan, which is subject to the satisfactory completion of customary conditions, is expected to occur by the end of the first week of March, 2010. There can be no guarantee that the Bridge Loan will be completed as intended or at all.
The Bridge Loan, if successfully completed, will provide the Company with the necessary funding to engage its auditor to complete the audit of the Annual Financial Statements. Provided that the Bridge Loan is completed as currently anticipated, the Company expects to file the Annual Required Filings and Interim Required Filings on or about April 16, 2010.

One Call Medical Addresses the Industry’s Top Concerns—Medical
Costs, Accountability, and Education—with “Smart” Diagnostic Management
PARSIPPANY, N.J. — One Call Medical (OCM), the nation’s leading provider of diagnostic
testing (including MRI, CT scans, Electromyography and Nerve Conduction
Studies), today announced the results from a series of market research
initiatives, conducted to identify key challenges in the workers’
compensation claims industry. By surveying claims managers, examiners,
and nurse case managers, the research revealed three key concerns and
needs in order to perform more effectively in 2010:
COVERING UP THE inconvenient facts of his resume, donning new identifies the way other men change suits, the hidden persuader at the center of AMCs Mad Men has a talent for duplicity that would seem to place him squarely in pop cultures rich canon of ad industry villains. But even with his fake name, appropriated past, perfect show family, and less than ethical approach to client management, Don Draper stands apart from the cynics, hoodwinks, hacks, and evil mesmerists who populate the pages of such anti-advertising tomes as The Hucksters, The Hidden Persuaders, and No Logo. At home in his dining room or at a fancy restaurant wooing clients, Draper may be a lying, boozing con man. But when hes in his office, dreaming up catch phrases to sell products, the specters of candor and authenticity possess him. “You are the product,” Draper tells a neophyte copywriter. “You, feeling something. Thats what sells” He doesnt just want to sell us the sizzle of girdles and popsicles; he wants to sell us their souls. Art Copy, a 2009 documentary about the advertising business, is built around interviews with eight of the industrys most celebrated practitioners. One of them, the legendary ad man George Lois, echoes Drapers passion. “I can get excited about selling a new kind of pin; growls Lois, a pugnacious blusterer whose campaigns for MTV and Tommy Hilfiger helped turn them into cultural mainstays. Contemplating a pins very pinness–identifying the precise qualities that make it useful to us and enhances our lives–is the path toward great advertising. The contrarian theme that advertising is at heart a medium for profound truth telling runs throughout Art Copy, which will be out on DVD this summer. The more common nonindustry view is of advertising as a fundamentally crooked enterprise that aims to brainwash us into buying products we dont really need to solve problems we dont actually have and attain ideals we dont genuinely aspire to. Art Copy departs from this stereotype in large part because its not a nonindustry depiction. While aimed at general audiences and directed by Doug Pray, whose past work includes documentaries on suffers, graffiti artists, turntablists, and the Seattle music scene, the movie was funded by The One Club, which describes itself as “the worlds foremost non-profit organization for the recognition and promotion of excellence in advertising”
Founders of Breast Cancer Charity ‘Breast Friends Forever’
Recognized for Easing Financial Burdens of Families Touched by the
Disease
MIDDLETOWN, N.J. — Middletown, NJ high school seniors Erika Rech and Mike Ruane are the
latest Grand Prize winners in the Fueling
Good program created by CITGO
Petroleum Corporation. The cousins earned their prize of a year’s
supply of CITGO gasoline by supporting individuals and families affected
by breast cancer. Their charity, Breast
Friends Forever, raised more than $110,000 over the last three years
to help ease the financial burdens of local families touched by this
terrible disease.
“When my cousin and I were 15 years old, two of our family members were
diagnosed with breast cancer within six months of each other,” said
Erika Rech, co-founder of Breast
Friends Forever. “From the initial diagnosis and throughout the
treatment, we saw firsthand the devastating effect that cancer can have
on a family, particularly its financial resources. The more we learned
about breast cancer and its associated treatment costs, in addition to
the emotional toll it takes on the entire family, the more we wanted to
help.”
Fundraising activities began with selling t-shirts and candy, and have
expanded to include the annual Breast
Friends Forever Gala, which raised $37,000 in 2009. Funds generated
through these events and activities help local families touched by
breast cancer with utility bills, groceries, mortgage payments, wigs,
and prostheses.
“Through Breast Friends Forever, we have experienced a wonderful
outpouring of support from our community,” added Rech. “The year’s
supply of gasoline from CITGO
will help my cousin and me expand our reach and fundraising programs so
that we can make an even greater impact on those in need.”

STUDENT nurses who drop out of university courses could be costing the taxpayer pounds 100m a year, new figures suggest. Wasted fees and the cost of financial support leads to a loss of pounds 108m, according to data from Nursing Standard magazine. The true figure could be higher because of extra payments made to students who are single parents or who have children, an investigation found. Nursing Standard obtained 2008 data under the Freedom of Information Act from 70 higher education institutions. Overall, 28% of trainee nurses dropped out, with some courses losing more than half their students.

The Science on Women and Science, edited by Christina Hoff Sommers (AEI, 340 pp., $20) The famous Title IX provision in the 1972 civil-rights legislation sounds quite sensible: “No per son in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” In the pattern of feminist activism with which we have become familiar, however, what sounded like a reasonable attempt to ensure fairness to individuals soon became a coercive instrument for enforcing decidedly unreasonable kinds of group rights. Title IXs first application was to high-school and college athletics. Since the premise of feminism is that men and women are alike apart from inconsequential physical differences and arbitrary social construction, disparities in the numbers of each sex in any area must be the result of discrimination. College administrators realized that in order to forestall lawsuits and loss of federal money, they had to demonstrate “statistical proportionality”: that the participation of men and women in sports was proportional to their numbers in the student population. But women outnumber men at many colleges, and even with the prompting and funding that markedly increased female participation in the wake of Title IX, women on the whole continued to show less interest in sports than men. Thus, perfectly viable mens teams had to be eliminated in order to make the numbers proportional. As mean and unjust as has been Title IXs application to college sports, its proponents are now employing it for something even more pernicious: the attempt to achieve gender parity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education. And, as ever, the government is at the ready to do their bidding.

ON NOVEMBER 30, 2009, North Koreans awoke to find that their savings had lost 99 percent of their official value. Kim Jong Ils dictatorship dropped two zeros from the North Korean won, making a 100-won note worth only one. Exchange of old currency for new is capped at 300,000 of the old won per family in bank savings and half that amount in cash. The limit is a de facto ceiling on savings, rendering worthless any currency held above the cutoff. The sudden revaluation may be an attempt to crack down on the black markets that have long existed in the comers of North Koreas centralized economic system. Defending the monetary change, which was imposed against a background of rampant inflation and widespread poverty, an official at the countrys central bank told a pro-Pyongyang paper in Japan that “in the future, a large share of economic activities will be subject not to the market, but the planned supply and distribution system.”
Over the last two decades, the telecom industry world over has grown and
evolved at an incredible pace and has considerably changed the way
people interact. Although, fixed line is still the most penetrated
telecom segment; wireless or mobile segment has been the key contributor
over the last decade, offering a wide range of opportunities to provider
and services to customers. Today, there are more than 4 billion mobile
phone users worldwide and this number is expected to reach 5 billion in
coming years. The shift of revenue from fixed to mobile and from voice
to data is accelerating. Apart from its social and cultural impact on
modern society, telecom industry is one of the significant contributors
of world economy with an estimated 3% of the global GDP. Driven by
strong mobile and broadband penetration in emerging markets and
substantial economic recovery in developed markets, global telecom
industry is expected to see double digit growth over the next four to

Titanium Kay, one of the most trusted online jewelers, has once again created an exclusive design for mens wedding rings with the “Riverstone” tungsten carbide collection. As one of the premier retailers to introduce titanium and tungsten carbide jewelry, these stunning designs are an excellent choice for men who want their wedding ring to reflect their individual style as well as stand the test of time.
“Tungsten carbide and titanium jewelry have become incredibly popular with men for its unsurpassed strength and durability; making it an ideal choice for mens wedding bands. The Riverstone collection is a superb example of natural beauty combined with excellent craftsmanship,” said Francis Meyer, the marketing director of Titanium Kay. “With any of our tungsten carbide rings, men can display their fashion sense as well as their personality. This jewelry is able to keep pace with a mans active lifestyle without the limitations or maintenance care of gold or silver.”
The Riverstone gem is related to the magnificent semi-precious Jasper gemstone which is a member of the Quartz family. This gemstone noted for its soothing properties, is found in a rainbow of hues, accounting for its long history of use in jewelry craft. Matching the incomparable strength of tungsten carbide with the radiant beauty of the Riverstone gem brings a rich, luxurious feel to the wedding band, to add just the right touch of opulence to the moment when marriage vows are exchanged.
The three styles of Riverstone tungsten carbide wedding rings feature either verdant green, sparkling earth or golden brown inlays set in a generous 8mm band weighing 15 grams. The intricate, natural quality of the stone is enhanced with beautiful textures that create a fascinating display of shadow and light. These rhodium-colored, comfort fit rings have a high polish finish that brilliantly contrasts the Riverstone gem. Together the result is a one-of-kind design that dazzles the eye with its luster to be worn with confidence and pride.
Titanium Kay is one of the first jewelers to embrace the design flexibility of tungsten carbide and titanium for its lustrous shine that rivals that of platinum at a fraction of the price. Our collection features diamonds, black diamonds and gold inlays.

Focussed assessment sonography in trauma (FAST) scanning is well established in major urban hospitals. But specialised services are rarely available in rural facilities. Smith, Postma and Wood assessed the utility of ultrasound for the purposes of FAST scanning in their developing world emergency department. (4) The study was part of a requirement to perform a number of supervised scans before accreditation for FAST. On the basis of their encouraging results the authors propose the use of FAST scanning in all peripheral hospitals to assess blunt trauma patients. It can play a valuable role in primary and subsequent assessment of trauma patients, and is cost effective and sustainable. Training programmes and accreditation are required for rural areas in South Africa. (1.) Swanepoel DW, Hall JW, Koekemoer D. Vuvuzela–good for your team, bad for your ears.
